October 2018 will go down as one of the worst months the global markets have suffered since February 2009. US markets lost 8% compared with the index 11% drop in February 2009. In the first few months of 2009 markets were still battered by the dread of economic depression. The amazing difference is that this last month's fall was triggered primarily by worries that the American economy is growing too quickly.
